“Irene” in a mast hoop Automata

Product Description

67cm x 60cm x 15cm

Iron wire automata of Irene, on reclaimed piece sail cloth and surrounded by a frame of a mast hoop from a similar vessel.  A mast hoop is what attaches the sail to the mast, working in a similar way to curtain rings. Made from steam bent birch.

This work is interactive. Turn the handle and the boat’s sways up and down over the waves

This is a wall mounted piece and can be hung on two fixings for stability

The timber mount is salvaged from the restoration of a wooden sailing boat.
